Competitive Groups

The club’s competitive groups are intended for athletes over 9 years old who train purposefully and persistently, and who are enthusiastic about competing. Throughout the year, competitive group athletes participate in group coaching, independent training, and competitions. The group coaching sessions include skill and ability exercises across different disciplines, as well as general fitness and other health-promoting activities. Coaching in groups is offered 2-5 times per week, depending on age. Athletes also receive guidance for independent training at home. A competition plan is prepared for each group or athlete.

The youngest competitive group members (aged 10-13) train in age-specific groups, focusing on developing all skills and disciplines. For those aged 14-16 (the senior age category), there are three different sports groups. Athletes interested in throwing and endurance sports have their own groups. Training for athletes over 16 primarily focuses on specific sports groups or individual coaching.

Athletes can participate in the Finnish championships in the year they turn 14. Those under 14 compete in the club’s own competitions, as well as district and regional competitions.

New athletes can register for the competitive groups through the junior head coach (for ages 10-15) or the head coach (please see contacts). Registration does not need to be renewed at the beginning of each season. New season starts in October.
